Blackberry French Macaron
~
Finally, I get huge – and thus relatively a lot cheaper – and freshly made macarons again! This is one of the best things about being back on campus, all thanks to Sugar Philly. On this particular Friday, when they have chef’s choice flavours, it was the new Blackberry French Macaron. After chatting with the owners for a few minutes, I left with the largest and one of the best tasting macarons I have had in quite a while. The shells were delicate on the outside and slightly sticky and quite moist on the inside. While the shells were not that thin, in proportion to the entire size of the macaron, the outer shell is already very thin. It was so huge I could hardly bite into the lovely purple shell. The blackberry filling was light, cool, and slightly fluffy in texture. It was not very sweet, so it was not a very sweet treat. The shell was probably sweeter in comparison. The blackberry flavour was not the most distinct but still present. It was certainly the perfect treat for the end of summer, fresh and light yet with a darker, purple shade.
