ImageAfter some early morning shopping on Boxing Day, we found ourselves at McDonald’s for a late breakfast. The mall was not too crowded but it was after the first round rush already. This McDonald’s in Richmond Centre has been here forever and I used to go all the time when I was little. It will always remain a part of my childhood.

The Bacon, Egg & Cheese McGriddles was always my favourite breakfast sandwich, and still is. Mom got this as she likes it quite a lot as well. It was my first breakfast sandwich I had tried. I still remember when McDonald’s first came out with this idea, way before anywhere else offered similar items. I just love the sweet griddlecakes together with the savoury bacon and cheese. The bacon was crispy and the folded eggs light and airy. It is simple yet delicious.

ImageDad’s Big Breakfast is basically like any of their other breakfast sandwiches, but you have to assemble it yourself. The biscuits were crumbly and buttery. The scrambled eggs were so fluffy and good. The sausage patty was savoury and slightly fatty and juicy. There was no cheese. Instead, they offered butter and strawberry jelly. I think cheese is essential but scrambled eggs are the best kind of eggs at McDonald’s in my opinion.Image

The Hash Browns was crispy and not too oily. Yes, it was greasy, but it was not drenched. The potato inside was mushy. It could have used more flavour, but it was decent. This is one of Mom’s favourites and she gets it each time we go for breakfast.Image

I had a Carrot Muffin with my cup of coffee as I already had something before we even went shopping. The muffin had a crispy top that was scrumptious. I love their muffins because they are more like a light cake, not buttery or oily at all. The muffin base had a nice carrot aroma from the shredded carrot and was slightly sweetened.

Breakfast at McDonald’s would never be spectacular but quality would never be horrible either. You will know what to expect, in flavour at least. As long as they make it with reasonable care and when you order it, it will be decent enough.
