Angus Mushroom & Swiss Snack Wrap

Welcome back to good ol’ McDonald’s. Honestly, sometimes I really miss those simple days when McDonald’s is considered a special treat. Sadly, the one on campus is not great. The food is usually carelessly assembled. However, since the ingredients are all the same, the taste is at least still okay.Image

One of my all time McDonald’s favorites is the Filet-O-Fish. The fish is usually quite moist and tender. This fillet was just slightly dry. The tartar sauce is always very tangy with crunchy pickles and the slice of cheese really melts into the bun. The bun is the simplest of simple hamburger buns, with nothing on top. However, after toasting, it is slightly sweet and very airy and soft with a slight char on the inside. This is what I like about the sandwich.Image

The Angus Mushroom & Swiss Snack Wrap was actually quite good for fast food wraps. It was toasty warm and the beef was decently juicy for fast food beef. The mushrooms were good, especially when paired with the gooey, slightly tough and chewy, yet very flavorful swiss cheese. The mushrooms and cheese were clearly my favorite parts. Image

Finally, the McChicken is not exactly what I am used to. If I recall correctly, it used to be a lot bigger and came on a sesame seed bun. They seem to have reduced the size and now use a plain bun. However, for only $1, it is a good deal. The chicken was kind of dry and the outside was not as crispy as I would have liked. The meat was still real white meat chicken, though. There could have been more lettuce, but I always liked the mayonnaise and crunchy lettuce together. Image

I really wish there was a higher quality McDonald’s around. The several back home are always so clean and comforting, with friendly staff and quality fast food. This one is usually disappointing. Just as well, though, or I will be eating it much more often.Image
