Magic Meatball Pita Sandwich

Such a long line but at least it moved at a decent speed. I just had to try for myself and see what all the hype about Magic Carpet Foods was about. It happened to be National Fast Food Day. Well, it certainly was not FAST.Image

The Spinach Pie was very tasty. I was not a fan of the very flaky phyllo dough, but I have never been. The feta cheese was savory and just enough to not be bland or too overwhelming. The spinach was very wilted and had a touch of sweetness. That is what made it so satisfying for such an appetizer.Image

The Magic Meatball Pita Sandwich was decent but could not be eaten like a regular sandwich. The tofu meatballs in marinara sauce fell apart quite easily but were soft on te inside, slightly crispy on the outside, and very flavorful throughout. The crunchy lettuce and vegetables added a nice and refreshing crunch. There was so much sauce that the thin pita bread was completely soaked and broke quite easily into a soggy mess near the end. How beer, the flavors were fabulous.Image

The Bedouin consisted of falafel on rice and vegetable with shredded cheese. The cheese was a little bland but the falafels were great, with a very finely flavored and soft center. The rice was decent and not soggy and I loved the variety of the diced vegetables mixed into the rice. I always appreciate broccoli, zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, and celery. I wished there were more vegetables in bigger pieces though. The tahini and hot sauce were decent although the hot sauce did not pack a huge punch. It was definitely overpriced for $5.25, even with the stale and tough pita read taken straight out of the store packaging.

I do not think I will be going back to Magic Carpet Foods anytime soon though, because everything is very overpriced. It is not like there ate no other lunch options that offer better deals around.
