Singapore Rice Noodles
Here I am, once again seeking out generic American Chinese food. The Singapore Noodles were definitely not as good as I expected. It had yellow colouring that stained the box. The thin rice noodles were overcooked, not at all al dente. It was not very flavourful either, with only a little spice. The shrimp were tender but the pork was kind of tough. It was supposed to be Chinese BBQ pork but it was not very sweet. Rather, it was more salty than anything.
The Hunan Beef had a lot of vegetables and tender beef slices. Apart from the ingredients, though, I did not enjoy this dish either. It was just like the black bean sauce with some chili peppers that did not even make it very spicy. It was in no way a spicy sauce. I do enjoy the vegetables and the beef was a little tough and chewy but still good.
The Sesame Chicken was just a sweet and tangy sauce, much like the General Tso’s sauce. It might have been the same, I’m not quite sure. The large pieces of chicken were battered and fried. Some part were a too dry but other parts were okay. I sometimes do appreciate how Chinese food do not use chicken breast, just so it can be juicier. I enjoyed the broccoli a lot, though.
I think you really need to know what you are ordering from these food trucks. There are always hits and misses. I just happened to trod upon some misses that day, but it is only to be expected as I cross off more items off their menu, having tried plenty already.
