Chick & Ruth’s Delly, Annapolis MD
Crab Cake Platter
I traveled down to Annapolis for an event and had an hour to explore and get dinner in the evening. Thanks to a prior search, I quickly found my way to Chick & Ruth’s Delly for their famous Crab Cake Platter.
It was not cheap, at $16.99 before tax and tips, but certainly worth it considering all the fresh lump crabmeat inside. My crab cake was served with buttered toast and two sides. I got spinach and onion rings as my side. The spinach was a little greasy but the onion rings, despite all the oil, was sweet with a thin crunchy batter. The crab cake was just delicious – perfectly creamy and crabby. You can really taste all the crab inside. The middle was still runny but that was probably because we were in a rush and told them to serve it as quickly as possible. I did not mind the slightly underdone center, though. I would rather have that than dry and overdone.
The restaurant was very casual and had friendly service. It seemed to be the only casual restaurant nearby so there were many families dining inside. It is a little crowded but I liked the relaxing atmosphere of the diner.
